Academic Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED 
  • One or more completed semesters or two or more completed quarters of college credit by application deadline
  • We also recommend completing first-year writing courses required at your current institution

Know Before You Apply

  • You can transfer up to 64 semester units or 96 quarter units from a community college
  • You must complete at least two years of study at Pitzer to earn a Pitzer College degree

Other Recommendations

We recommend that students transferring before getting an associate’s degree take many subjects. This includes the humanities, math, social science, and science. We will pay special attention to your work in college courses.

California community college students should do courses in the Inter-Segmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC). Find out more about IGETC from the counseling center at your community college. The Pitzer Office of 入学 can assist in planning.

If you are 23 years of age or older, consider applying as a New Resources student.

  • We require at least one recommendation from a college professor (or teaching assistant).
  • Recommendations should be submitted through the Common Application website.
  • Your recommender can also email/mail their recommendation to applicant@laolitaohuo.com.
  • Recommenders must send their letters directly to the Office of 入学.
  • Download the 大学的报告 here or from the Common Application website.
  • The report should be completed by a college official with access to your academic and disciplinary records. Examples include a dean, adviser, or registrar. 
  • Not currently enrolled? The report should come from your most recently attended college or university.
  • The college official should email the report to applicant@laolitaohuo.com. You may also send it to the Office of 入学 in a sealed envelope.
  • All colleges/universities you have attended must send your official transcript. They can send it to the Office of 入学 by mail or to applicant@laolitaohuo.com. 
  • Request your transcript at least four weeks in advance of the admission deadline.
  • Submit your high school transcript if you have finished less than 32 semester credits or 48 quarter credits by the admission deadline. You may email your official high school transcript to applicant@laolitaohuo.com.
